Ordered to Hospital. (22 month Post-Op UDATE)

Grumpy, I started with my first meat rabbits and joined this forum in 2013 and followed your posts for years. I have had other focuses in my life the last 3 years. You have been an inspiration for me, here all the way in Florida. I have not been active with rabbits since my son was born in...

    Freezing Bunny Meat Question

If the grinder is on the weaker side (like the grinder attachment on my stand mixer) it is better to grind when partially frozen. When using an actual electric grinder strong enough to grind wild game, it's much easier to not freeze it first.

    Swimming Rabbits

My husband just showed me a video he took of a customer of his letting her pet rabbit (some sort of mini lop) swim in the pool. It seemed to enjoy itself. The fur trapped so much air that it floated. It would climb out of the pool to its owner to be gently tossed into the pool again. It was...

Kindling first time doe not able to pull fur

This is my second year breeding meat rabbits, and I have just experienced my first litter failure this morning. My first time momma named 'Fatty Fatty Fudge', a New Zealand-Altex cross who is about 6 or 7 months old gave me hints that she was going to have a difficult delivery last night. She...

I feed all kinds of stuff to all my meat rabbits from my garden. Spent pea vines, kale, broccoli leaves, parsley, cilantro, carrot tops, strawberry leaves, boc choy, Swiss chard, and whatever else I'm growing. Oh! A favorite is sweet potato vines. It is easy to grow, they go nuts for it, and...

    ah, hatemail~

I have heard of a doe about to kindle eating a sliver of bacon before having her kits. This particular doe was known for eating a kit or two (live). If she ate bacon before kindling, all the kits would be fine.( so says the guy posting this on the Internet). I don't know this to be true...

call me insane - More meiko progress

I grew up with Akitas. They are a wonderful breed for me. My first dog as an adult on my own was a husky. One thing with the husky and the Akitas is that if they bolt out the door or slip out of a fence, they just RUN. I currently have a boxer/american bulldog mix who is getting up there in...
