Hey guys,
Just stumbled across this ad on Craigslist. I've never seen a Cal colored Champagne. Is this not really a Champagne, or do they actually come in different varieties??

Wow, 15 weeks seems like a really long time for a meat breed to reach 5 lbs. Feed to meat conversion is very important to us too. One breeder I spoke to has Satins that reach 5-6lbs in 12 weeks. I didn't ask her about how much feed goes into them though.
Have you ever worked with the Champagne...
Ever since I can remember I've always had a passion for reptiles. For now my collection is quite small, just 3 snakes, but its sure to grow when time allows :)
Anyways, the first few pictures are of Lexus. She is around 8ft and is pastel het. albino Colombian Red Tail boa. It's so hard to get a...
Wouldn't life be so much easier if there were only 5 rabbit breeds in the world? :D
I would like to get started with getting a meat breed, and so far I've changed my mind at least 4 or 5 times on which breed to settle on. Right now I'm really in love with Satins (Siamese in particular) for...
That is true. It was a learning experience, and I am glad that the rex didn't suffer any longer. We did make money off of them from selling them as snake feed, but it was definitely bittersweet
That's what I'm hoping to do with them. It works well with the rats that I breed for my snakes.
They are feeding her every 2-3 weeks which is a "growing" type diet, whereas once a month would be a maintenance diet which slows their growth.

I had put down all 6 rabbits today just to be safe. They are going to end up being snake food. From what I read, if they do have Pasturella it shouldn't affect the snake at all, especially after being frozen. I used the broomstick method and it worked quite well.
No Altex around here at all sadly :( I have no idea where the closest one is at all. I might go with typical commercial meat cross of something. I heard that Flemish/NZW or californian crosses grow pretty fast. I have no idea if that eat a ton or not though. I really wanted to get Satins as our...
I'm going to be breeding some rabbits for use as snake food. What would be a good breed that grows quickly, and is economical to raise. 5-8lbs is what the snake eats, so the quicker the babies grow to that size, the better :)
Hmmm, so do you guys think that the rabbit would bleed out enough that once it was put in a bag, frozen, then thawed out for the snake, that blood shouldn't really be that much of an issue?
I'll PM you some questions tonight! I'm in touch with a breeder over here right now. She has pedigreed stock, but then again, that doesn't mean they are great quality. Though showing will be something to do in the future, I don't want to start with stock that I'll eventually have to replace.
I...
