It got down to 47 here in New Orleans and everyone freaked out! I had to remind myself that I had does kindle in Michigan in -10 degree weather no problem. Still put a heat lamp over them for my peace of mind. :) ;)

Sounds good, I checked her at feeding time and she looks fine and ate her whole ration. I'll re-breed tomorrow. I could use some big litters, my other doe only had one live from the last litter and I re-bred her yesterday. Guess they'll be Christmas bunnies though I didn't intend it.

Well this is a first... I raise Dwarf Hotots so I'm surprised it hasn't come up before. I have a first time doe who I got from another breeder, she's older than I'd like for a first litter, around 13 months old. She kindled last night, one large malformed kit which was stuck for about an hour...

I think the problem may be that there isn't really a demand for mixed breed rabbits. Try breeding to a standard and the 4-H market will take care of any extras you have. I did this for years, and couldn't give away the "mutts". Ended up sending them to freezer camp and sticking to the purebreds...

I like the two grow out cage idea. I'm breeding both does at the same time each time in case I have to foster so they'd be the same size and I can sort them by sex. A tattoo pen dot in the ear of one litter will help me keep track for pedigrees I think... I think I'll be able to cull pretty...

I live in a big city and have had a few rabbits stolen, so now each hutch has a padlock. It's a hassle but my Dwarf Hotots are either ones I've paid $100+ for or plan to show or sell for a comparable amount. I'm not planning on selling pet quality bunnies to anyone but 4-H kids for showmanship...
