I'm thinking about switching my dutch show rabbits to a local feed. Their specialty is GMO free but that doesn't concern me "although I do support the idea and market" as much as the fact it is made 15 miles from here and I can get it fresh. I am currently feeding Nutrena Naturewise 15%. It is ok but not stellar. I use to feed Heinold but I'm not sure what its quality is like now. Haven't used it in 20 years and it is a few thousand miles away without the distributorship the big brands have.

The local feed is 16% protein, average 20% fiber, and 1.8% fat. The low fat levels worry me for show rabbits and nursing does. I already supplement with BOSS and I could just bump it up slightly. They love those anyway. the feed doesn't have yucca extract either so hoping ammonia doesn't become an issue as rabbitry is in the garage. Any show goers or others have an opinion on those numbers?
