Bug4H is feeding George Purina Performance pellets, but we aren't sure how much he should be getting.

The lady who sold him to her said she usually gives him "about a salmon-can full" - the rabbit isn't much bigger than a salmon can !!

He's 10 weeks old yesterday, and current weight is 985 grams (2.2 lbs)

He has free-fed hay and fresh water.

At George's young age, he can probably be fed pellets free choice, provided it is the brand he is accustomed to. If it's a different brand and you have none of his old pellets to mix with it while you transition him, then I would suggest buying a bag of old fashioned kitchen oatmeal (the large flake kind) and offering that as well along with a smaller serving of the new pellets. Oatmeal is very digestible and palatable to rabbits and it buffers changes in the brand of pellets.

Occasionally you find a rabbit that is simply a piggy and then it may be necessary to limit their pellets so they don't get fat, but this is uncommon while they are still growing.

Okay, thank you.

We did opt to stay with what his breeder was feeding - at least for now.
I also found some powdered yucca root to add in, but it's in capsules - so we have to open them up and sprinkle it on the pellets.

It's wise to stay with the same brand if you can -- at least for the time being. Rabbits are very suseptible to stress and it usually shows up as digestive upset . . . so sticking with the same feed until it is feeling very comfortable in its new home really helps to prevent problems.
