Hello from Ohio
Hi,
I currently have a 10 hole rabbitry in Ohio, due to expand any day now. I raise Standard Rexes. I've had rabbits as pets in the past, but decided to recently get back into rabbits as a self sustainability/urban homesteading project to feed my dogs. I also have chickens and raise German Shepherds for show, and I figured if I'm showing dogs, I might as well get show rabbits. I got a wonderful start from a local breeder, and I am due to have my first litter in two days. My castor doe is out in the barn now making her nest. AS with all of my animals, I am very interested in genetics. Rabbit genetics are way more complicated than German Shepherd genetics.

Re: Hello from Ohio
My first rabbits were a Chin colored Netherland dwarf named Sable (pet store), and a Sable point mini lop named Cinnamon. I got her from a show breeder near Ithaca, NY. I wish I could find her and thank her for getting me started in rabbits (I told her I didn't need the pedigree, so I don't know the rabbitry name
) Had to have one the looked like our Chocolate point Siamese Cats. I must admit I love animals with patterns, not to much into solid colors (German shepherd and Barred Rock Chickens fall into the same category)
I live in Cleveland proper, not far from the lake. This property used to be an orchard, and took up the entire block. When it was sold and divided, the original barn was left standing. My mother and I joke about it all the time. When people ask me where I'm keeping animals, I love to tell them that I have a barn. They ask me where I live and I tell them 15 minutes from town and they are baffled.

Re: Hello from Ohio
Welcome! I'm from southern Michigan, I visit Ohio on occasion (did I spell that right?) to visit friends and family. Right now I'm in transition between breeds but am moving into American Chinchillas and Checkered Giants if the finances allow
