Hello All
Hello all,
Just thought I would introduce myself, I'm kinda of new to rabbits my father use to raise them when I was about 10 but got out of it. My wife and I are starting into them were looking more at the commerical end with a little extra income.
Most likely we will raise a California or NZ cross, I have a 100ft by 75ft barn that ill be enclosing for them with cemented floors and some ways to keep it clean. The barn itself is open rafted so stacking up could be an option if I can keep everything clean.
As of right now we will be hauling to the butcher shops and selling there but we are working in to turning anthor section of the barn into a processing location. We also raise goats, chicken (layers), Pigs and beef for our freezer. I have raised Meat chickens and turkeys also. We also sale hay and do custom hay work and usually put in about a 2 acre garden. All of this on 40 acres of irragated land.
It is my hope and dream to be able to work full time right from here in the future and have it pay for me to stay at home and I think one way to accomplish this is by deversifing into other aspects of farming/ranching.
Well I hope you all have a great day and I dont irratate you to much.

Re: Hello All
Hello DRJRanch and welcome to RabbitTalk!
Your plans sound wonderful... and very ambitious.
I do suggest you keep your rabbitry fairly small at the beginning so that you can gain some experience with rabbits before getting into it in a big way. You'll want to look into an automated water system and an efficient way of handling waste. (Although why we call the manure waste I don't know... it's the best thing ever for your garden and you'll be able to use it all there.) Looking forward to hearing more about your ventures... It's the kind of thing I would have liked to do, given the opportunity when I was young enough to handle it.
