First time poster from Southwest Florida
Hi!
After 30 years of keeping various breeds of chickens, I'm ready for something new (and quieter) in my backyard.
Actually, I'll probably house my meat rabbits in the garage and move them outside later if I run out of room.
I've settled on Florida Whites, and emailed a breeder who will be happy to get me started.
This looks like a good place to find nice people to help me along once I get going.
Thanks for having me!
Now I just need to make the time to get set up and build hutches.

Welcome to RT
Like your choice of meat rabbit.

Florida Whites (our preferred meat rabbit).

Thanks, for the welcomes!

I'm an old Keys Rat from way back, Marinea. Diving, fishing, etc. We spent our honeymoon in Islamorada right in the middle of the 1980 Mariel boat lift. I've been wearing out the roads between Fort Myers and The Keys since long before then. There used to be this great little Mexican restaurant in Homestead... Don't think it's there anymore but I'm sure there are others.
I've got a few loose ends to clean up first, but I hope to have 3 or 4 bunnies by Easter. I'm thinking I'll let them get settled and get used to caring for them for a while before hopping into breeding. It'll give me a chance to figure out how to set things up.

Wow, thanks for the memories! The one thing I miss about living on my mountain now is the water and all that implies. I didn't even mind the drive when I lived in the Keys and worked in downtown Miami, because five minutes after I was home I could be on or in the water.
Starting out slow with the buns is a great idea. You WILL make changes along the way. Know that it doesn't mean you started out badly, just that you found a better way.

Welcome, I'm fairly new around here too, and somewhat new to rabbit breeding, and noone has made me feel like a complete idiot yet.
