Got four does to lift for the bucks this afternoon! :D Fingers crossed that they all caught. One of the bucks was a first-timer and he bred two does. The older boys need to go on a diet, methinks.

The bucks are Harlequins. The does are Harlequin, NZB and commercial NZ (silver marten) - all first timers.

I've suddenly found myself with some feeder customers, so I have a market for them. :D

No, they want the feeders dispatched, but that's fine with me. In fact, it gives me an outlet for the "casualties" - snakes don't care what they died of.

Oh WELL DONE! Do you think it was the bunny porn you showed the girls? Or the threat of the meat cleaver?

Cereshill, I've contacted our local pet stores that carry reptile supplies, and the local snake club to ask if there is a place to advertise...both the stores and the club said they would put me on a list of suppliers when I was ready to provide feeders. The club guy suggested that I have a website set up with all my information (sizes, prices, availability, phone, email) so they can include that in their newsletter. He said that local sources are always appreciated.

almost forgot: you'll probably want to have mice or rats, as well, if you go big, to get more of the "I need different sizes: people. Or find someone in your area who raises rats for feeders, and join up with them.

Although some of the snake owners might care. The big constrictors and pythons and even some of the rarer colours of the small ones can sell for $10,000 or more. Here's the website of a snake breeder in my area http://coreywoods.com/available.shtml Check out the prices of some of these beauties!!

I think that if I had a rabbit die of disease/bloat/unknown cause that was clearly not fright, I would let the snake owners know before I sold them the rabbit as a feeder. I'm not sure what can be passed on, but if someone's $20,000 snake died because I'd sold him a rabbit with wry neck, I'd probably be in big trouble. :(

I'm thinking about it. ;)

The woman with the snakes had an ad on the internet, as her supplier had gotten out of rabbits. Another woman was referred to me by MK, as her rabbits have not been cooperating lately.

If the rabbit was obviously sick, then I wouldn't sell it for feeding, but the ones that just forget to wake up for no obvious reason . . .
