Have a Californian Doe that I palpated @ 2 weeks. Dont think she is bred, put her back in with buck and she fought him and was very grumpy. Now today noticed she was trying to pull off a little fur and was scratching in the corner of her cage. Even if she was bred she would only be 2 weeks along why is acting like that?

Hello Pheasant283,
Yes, what you have there is a false pregnancy.
They usually start nest building at around 17 days.
[That's what I've heard anyway].
I would wait a few more days to one week and then re-breed her.
How old is this Doe and the Buck?
You never can tell though, because some Does are extremely early nest builders.
If you saw the mating take place and they were both old enough and they
did everything they were supposed to, you might be surprised 31 to 33 day's from
that breed date.

My doe did the same thing while my buck was sterile this summer. After a few days she lost interest in her nest so I'd give her a few days to settle the hormones down and then try again.
