The CHAT box has been invaded... I saw [1] earlier, now there are [2] in there- I copied the text on my last visit:

Everything you posted here looks normal to me. If you look at the right menu on the chat page, there is a "Roll Dice" command available, which gives the output you saw. You can also invoke it by typing "/roll" without the quotes. The logged in/out stuff is normal, it gives you an idea of what happened just before you entered, so you can more easily get your bearings (or see who you missed, if they happened to leave at around the same time).

Perhaps you're confusing the full on chat page with the shoutbox at the bottom of the forum index?

What in the world does "Roll Dice" mean?



Er... umm... I guess so. The Chat I was referring to is a blue button at the top of the page in the menu bar (between START BLOGGING and FAQ), and then we have the RT Chatbox below the Board Index, plus the RT Chatroom (w/ the people drinking coffee).

What exactly is the point of all these options? I've only ever used the Chatbox, never before seen anybody in the "Chat" at the top of the page, nor anyone in the Chatroom.

Well, the chat room is more sophisticated than the shoutbox. It allows "rooms" to be created, multiple conversations at a time, moderation options (mods can silence or kick people), and some other stuff. It's mainly there as an option for any future forum "events" or planned talks, that kind of thing. As things stand, it's very underused, but anyone is free to use it.

The dice roll option is just a random number generator based on 1-6, and some forums use it to play games in chats. I didn't bother removing it, even though I can't see much use for it here.
