You can - some bucks will make it their life goal to get the box messy though. I usually put plastic floor mats (like they sell at cage companies) in with my bucks to give them something to sit on

People also use tile *Not the laminate* and I think even slabs of concrete. I put an amazon link below that'll show you the plastic mats because I couldn't find them the first few times I searched...

If your buck is naturally messy though - he will use the tile to make a mess of himself. Try to put the tile away from the area that uses as a restroom
