Im new to rabbits, and am still doing preliminary research to find out what is possible, and what isn't.

If the buck is loose in a colony, couldn't he mount and impregnate an already pregnant doe a second time, such that, at the same time she is pregnant with two separate litters?

Is this a problem? Or am I just misunderstanding things.

he could but most does won't stand for a breeding very long after they are "caught" the first the time

I think perhaps rabbits in a colony are more laid back about breeding. They have a social structure - and extended family - and work out what is okay and what isn't okay. Certainly breeding is under the control of the doe... and she will get nasty with a persistent buck if she does not want to breed. Fortunately, in a colony, there is room for the buck to get away when he finally gets the message, so there is no reason for bloodshed.
