I know many rumnants eat it; our neighbors have some and I wondered if it has decent protein.

I've seen the odd reference to feeding bamboo to rabbits, but I really can't give you any first-hand information. If ruminants eat it without problems, it is probably safe for rabbits, but I have no idea of its protein content. Do you have a botanical name for the species in question? If you provide it, I'll do a little research in my "spare" time. ;)
