I'm so happy that my boss loves me!

I'm allowed to have all the eggs that I want that come out of the hens coming through the processing plant. Today someone brought in 400 "spent" laying hens, plus about 14 roosters. I got 57 eggs! (not counting ones that got dropped)

Guess who has 57 brown, blue, and white probably fertilized eggs in her incubator? This girl!!!

I told Mrs. Boss that I'm calling my hatchery "Ingham County Poultry Orphanage".

What a windfall!

Now all you need is a really long chicken run lined with rabbit cages on either side to make it a dual purpose operation. You could call it the "Ingham County Poultry Orphanage and Easter Bunny Training Center".

WOW!!

Do you know how to candle the eggs to check for fertilization?

If you ever decide to sell and ship day old chicks, drop me a note!

I haven't got a clue how to candle. I've tried before and failed miserably. I pretend to be so smart, and then simple things like candling completely blow me over.

LOL

You should see me try to sex rabbits.

Maybe this will help:

http://shilala.homestead.com/candling.html

I know if an egg isn't fertile or if it dies, it can explode and stink, or take out other eggs. And...that's about all I know. LOL
