can i give acorns as a treat once in a while ??

my rabbits used to eat some of them with no ill effect... but they didn't want very many, for very long..
I believe the palatability of acorns varies from species to species and even tree to tree depending ont he tannin levels. White oak and sawtooth acorns are supposed to be favored by deer.
